We're looking for new Volunteer Board Members to join our board: 

Voices of Muslim Women Foundation is a Muslim women led registered charity that champions leadership and professional excellence for all women and girls in British Columbia.  Our values include sisterhood, inclusivity, excellence, growth and service. We're looking for an accountant or business/financial/fundraising professional to join our Board of Directors as our new Treasurer and/or General Member. We're looking for a Treasurer to help our new registered charity grow and steer this organization to help foster a new generation of women leaders in BC. What makes us unique from other women's leadership organizations is that we are a Muslim women led charity that works to empower all women and girls. 

 

We're looking for someone who can commit to 4-6 virtual and/or in person Board Meetings a year and who is knowledgeable, experienced and excited to fundraise and attend 3-4 galas, networking and community events as a VMW ambassador. In addition, this individual should be passionate about championing women's leadership in BC and representing VMW.

Volunteer Board Treasurer?

We are looking for a Muslim woman who is a financial professional who assumes responsibility for bookkeeping and analyzing quarterly reports presented by the executive team. They present the financial standing of the organization to the Board every quarter. They play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term financial stability and success of the business.

What does a Treasurer do?

A Treasurer performs a range of responsibilities, such as assuming responsibility for cash management procedures and making decisions regarding the company’s financial standing. Additionally, they assist in developing financing strategies, maintain relationships with banks, prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, and provide advice on matters of corporate finance. A Treasurer plays a vital role in maintaining financial stability, compliance with regulations, and supporting informed decision-making within the organization.

Treasurer responsibilities include:

  • Preparing quarterly financial analysis of organization’s financial standing.

  • Assuming responsibility for cash management procedures

  • Attending financial meetings and liaising with banks and other financial institutions

  • Preparing an annual budget for the organization

  • Bookkeeping for the Board

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for cash management procedures

  • Manage the company’s financial activity and make decisions

  • Prepare budgets and monitor expenditures

  • Implement relevant legislation and policies, if and when necessary

  • Submit quarterly reports of present financial situation and forecasting

  • Submit annual reports of present financial situation and forecasting

Preferred Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience in a relevant financial role

  • Thorough knowledge of financial legislation, regulation and practices for BC Charities

  • Working knowledge of  Quickbooks and accounting

  • Good with numbers and figures

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Well-organized and reliable

  • Excellent leadership and decision-making abilities
