Fatema was born in Mombasa, Kenya and moved to Canada in 1987. She is married to Mohamed Dewji and has 4 grown-up children and 2 grandkids. Sh went back to school while raising her kids and got a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Certificate in Elementary Education from Simon Fraser University. Fatema also has a Peer Support Counseling certificate from UBC Continuing Education and is currently an intern to become a Certified Sage-ing Leader through Sage-ing International. She is a part of the community at Az-Zahraa Islamic Centre in Richmond, BC., where she has volunteered in various positions like the Weekend School, chairlady of the Ladies Management Committee, and giving talks and workshops to women on faith based topics, spirituality, parenting and social issues. She is a volunteer with the Muslim Food Bank and Community Services as a senior caseworker. Currently, Fatema is a full-time volunteer for her family foundation, Rahma Foundation, where as the director/support worker she provides services to marginalized individuals and families. In her free time, she likes to go for walks, swim, bike, read and spend time with family and friends. She is a lifelong learner who loves to meet new people and learn and share and grow!
