Voices of Muslim Women (VMW) is a Vancouver-based non profit organization that educates and mentors girls and women professionals to be confident, connected and informed leaders. We host a mentorship program, offer scholarships and awards and host an awards gala and professional development & networking conference for women in Vancouver. We are led and run by women in Vancouver who self-identify as belonging to Muslim cultures; however, our programs and events are open to girls and women from all cultures.

Marketing Coordinator (OPEN)

Location: Remote/ Online

The VMW team is a rapidly growing group of talented individuals who are creating a leading organization the connects, educates and inspires Muslim women. We are launching an integrated marketing platform, inclusive of content and campaign management, lead management, and multi-channel delivery and testing to grow our membership base as well as participants for our programs and events.

 

VMW is looking for a talented Marketing Coordinator to increase adoption and engagement of social media leading to membership sales, curate and manage our newsletter as well as create seasonal photoshoots for VMW photography stock galleries. The individual will also manage our social media channels including Instagram and Facebook. This individual is passionate about the growing adoption of technology by consumers and is excited to support the creation, on-going development & implementation of the latest digital solutions for our members. This individual will be working closely with and reporting to our executive director. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Social Media Growth: Developing strategies to grow all of our social media platforms both in customer engagement (comments, dialogue, sharing) and the numeric value (number of followers, friends).

  • Set Channel Specific Weekly Goals: What gets measured gets managed, right? Measuring social success on a weekly basis to ensure we’re hitting our targets is a small step that will help us create big results.

  • Create Channel Specific Guidelines: What works on Instagram might not work on Pinterest. Create a channel specific strategy and best practices guidelines for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. 

  • Research: Researching and staying up to speed on new social media marketing strategies and how we can use them to add value to our audience.

  • Determine Important KPIs: Determine what measurements will be tracked to help us see what works and what doesn’t, where we need to double down, and how our social efforts are leading to more leads and sales. 

  • Create and maintain the company’s social media policy: Since this position is new in-house, we will need a creative individual to help come up with a strategic social media policy that will apply to the entire company in regard to social media.

  • Newsletter Growth: Curate and create a seasonal newsletter as well as track analytics for newsletter engagement. 

  • Marketing Growth: Developing strategies to increase our membership sales using our website and marketing tools; working inline with existing marketing campaigns.

  • VMW Stock Photography: Developing ways to create custom photoshoots to use on our website, newsletters and social media campaigns. 

EXECUTION

  • Campaign Creation: Partner with our marketing team and executive director to help support our product launches, podcast promos, lead magnet promotions, contests, giveaways, etc. on the social front. You’ll do this by designing and executing results-driven, lead-generating, and high-converting social media campaigns.

  • Social Media Brand Management: Acting as the brand voice for VMW across all social media platforms by developing and executing a regular posting strategy, including creating and/or repurposing engaging content that establishes our presence as an authority

  • Create Content Calendars: Create a strategic and organized content calendar that ties into what promotions or pre-launch period we’re in, what’s going on in the world and relevant to VMW’s community and members (i.e. Muslim Women’s Day; International Women’s Day; Ramadan). 

COMMUNITY 

  • Community Management: Owning community engagement and responding to customers who voice their feedback, questions, or complaints on social media channels. You’ll do this by posting engaging content, soliciting relationships, initiating discussion, monitoring comments, answering questions, being highly responsive, and elevating any concerns or arising themes to our customer experience team. 

  • Outbound Growth: Help grow our following through outbound engagement initiatives. 

ANALYSIS

  • Tracking and Reporting Analytics: Constantly tracking and reporting on social analytics and metrics, making suggestions for improvement based on your findings in these reports. Measuring sentiment about our brand, products, and services on the social web and responding accordingly. 

  • Weekly Reporting: creating streamlined, easy to digest, high-level reports detailing top posts, follower growth, campaign success and any other important metrics the marketing team should know about. 

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES
 

You are a strong fit for this position if the requirements below match your levels of experience:

  • Must have social media copywriting experience

  • Social media is your passion. You can easily spot an effective social media channel and identify the qualities that make it successful.

  • You are constantly paying attention to what is working for leading brands and can visualize how it can apply to our brand.

  • You are a thinker and a doer. This position is a mix of both. You can come up with strong, smart strategies and you also don’t hesitate to jump in and implement.

  • You understand the power of a good story and you are a master at asking the right questions of the right people to bring that story to life.

  • You're an effective communicator, especially in writing. Your grammar and writing skills are top-notch but you know how to keep it conversational. 

  • You have a knack for identifying trends before they become trends and pride yourself in implementing quickly to be first to market with your new ideas.

  • You’re naturally aesthetic. You have a visual eye and are hungry to step beyond the normal stock image to bring our brand to life

  • You are masterful at tapping into the unique voice of our brand. 

  • You love measuring and tracking the success of your campaigns and growth endeavours. You rely on analytics to give you insight into what’s working and what’s not.  

  • Must be able to work remotely; own laptop, smart phone and have access to wifi.
