Who We Are

Voices of Muslim Women (VMW) is a Vancouver-based non profit organization that educates and mentors girls and women professionals to be confident, connected and informed leaders. We host a mentorship program, digital storytelling program, awards gala and professional development & networking conferences for women in Vancouver. We are led and run by women in Vancouver who self-identify as belonging to Muslim cultures; however, our programs and events are open to girls and women from all cultures.

Aisha is the founder and executive director of Voices of Muslim Women and Freed Education. She is usually found in a state of excitement, chaos and bliss, surrounded by her three children, husband and many careers as an activist, community educator and leader. With a love for books, learning, and good coffee, you can find her meeting new members of the community in every corner of the lower mainland or planning new adventures to travel the globe.  Aisha holds a Masters degree in Social Justice Education from SFU and a BA from UBC.



Dalia is the Communications and Marketing lead at VMW! While managing school, freelancing and starting her own business, she handles all things creative and fun at VMW! She is super passionate about women supporting women and loves to use creativity to invoke that. She's also a videographer videographer and all around creative person. You can always find her behind the scenes or behind the camera. In her free time, she loves animals, and dives into the next good book that she can find.

Shahin Khan is the force that holds VMW together. She serves as the detail orientated mastermind and coordinates the logistics of running a non profit in Vancouver. On her time off, she can be found in yoga studios and coffee shops. Shahin works as an adjuster and comes from a professional legal background. 



Ayesha joined the VMW team as the Programs Officer in June 2019 where she organized the pilot Mentorship program. She has since advanced into the role of Special Assistant where she takes on various writing, policy and governance responsibilities. Ayesha graduated from SFU with a degree in Anthropology, and also holds a certificate in NGO & Non-profit studies. She has worked in the nonprofit sector for 5 years in various advocacy and education roles. She is very passionate about the environment and currently sits on the City of Richmond’s Advisory Committee for the Environment. Outside of her role at VMW, Ayesha is a huge soccer fan, loves to read, and is a strong believer that puns are the highest form of wit.
